I have finally cast off the last twist of my handknitted spiral scarf and I am hoping to try this technique of partial knitting on the knitting machine. Now the only question is- to felt or not to felt??
A very noisy flock of about 100 of these wild corellas spent the day in my back garden feasting on the neighbour's almonds and my unripe apples and then throwing them on to the ground. It was really spectacular, and my neighbour's attempts at looking scary and making noises to save his nuts were almost as entertaining as the antics of the birds!!
Meet Eric- a rescued pet rabbit who now resides on my back verandah. He has not been enjoying all the hot weather but has still managed to chew through 2 power cords and 3 pot plants this week!!
After 2 days of 40 degrees, my plans to finish hand knitting this twisted spiral scarf failed. It really is too hot to knit! I am hoping a weekend cool change will be enough inspiration to finish the last few spirals as it has been on the needles since last winter!.
I am a textile artist based in Melbourne Australia. In another life, I ran a florist shop "Rare Petals". Both crafts take some inspiration from ancient Japanese techniques- my flower shop concentrated on ikebana, and my current craft practice explores shibori, in particular on knitted felt.
